KitTrail is a personal health-tracking application provided by Building Buddies LLC (“Building Buddies,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). We designed KitTrail with privacy in mind, particularly because information about your health and wellbeing can be sensitive.
This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use KitTrail.
1. Information You Enter in KitTrail
KitTrail allows you to voluntarily record information about your health and daily experiences. Depending on how you use the app, this may include:
- Daily wellbeing ratings and check-ins
- Symptoms and custom symptoms
- Daily functioning information
- Possible factors associated with how you are feeling
- Sleep-related information
- Treatment or medication changes you choose to record
- Notes and other information you enter
- Hormonal factors, if you choose to enable and record them
- Dates and times associated with check-ins
- Draft and editing information
- App preferences and personalization settings
- Reminder preferences
This information may constitute sensitive health-related information.
2. Where Your KitTrail Data Is Stored
KitTrail is designed as a local-first application.
Your check-in information and health-tracking history are stored locally on your device in KitTrail's application storage.
KitTrail does not require you to create an account to use its core features, and the current version does not upload your health-tracking history to a Building Buddies server or cloud account.
KitTrail currently does not provide cloud synchronization or a cloud backup and restore service. Deleting KitTrail, resetting its local data, losing your device, or replacing your device may result in loss of information that has not otherwise been exported by you.
3. How KitTrail Uses Your Information
Information you enter is used on your device to provide KitTrail's features, including:
- Displaying your check-in history
- Calculating symptom and factor frequencies
- Creating charts and trends
- Identifying observational patterns in information you have recorded
- Generating personal health reports
- Supporting editing and historical views
- Providing optional daily check-in reminders
KitTrail's pattern features identify associations in information you record. They do not establish that one event, symptom, behavior, or factor caused another.
KitTrail is a personal health-tracking tool and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or medical condition.
4. Reports and Sharing
KitTrail allows you to generate reports based on information you have recorded.
Reports are created as temporary files on your device. If you choose to share, print, save, email, upload, or otherwise export a report using your device's sharing features, the report may leave KitTrail and be handled by the application, service, person, or destination you select.
Building Buddies does not control third-party services or recipients that you independently choose when sharing a report.
You should review the privacy practices of any service with which you choose to share health information.
5. Notifications
If you choose to enable daily check-in reminders, KitTrail uses your device's notification system to schedule those reminders.
Your reminder preferences are stored locally. Notification content may be visible on your device's lock screen depending on your operating-system notification settings.
You can disable KitTrail reminders within the app and can manage notification permissions through your device settings.
6. Selling, Advertising, and Tracking
Building Buddies does not sell your KitTrail health information.
KitTrail does not use the health information you enter for targeted advertising.
The current version of KitTrail does not use third-party advertising networks or cross-app advertising trackers to monetize your health information.
7. Analytics and Third-Party Services
The current KitTrail implementation does not intentionally transmit your recorded health history to Building Buddies for analytics or advertising.
KitTrail relies on operating-system and application-framework components necessary to provide app functionality. Those technologies may operate according to the privacy practices of the applicable platform provider.
If we introduce analytics, cloud synchronization, crash-reporting services, or other services that materially change how your information is handled, we will update this Privacy Policy and any required store disclosures before using those services as described.
8. Your Data Controls
KitTrail provides controls for managing locally stored information.
You may delete individual check-ins and may use Delete All KitTrail Data to remove locally stored KitTrail information from your device.
Deleting all KitTrail data is intended to remove user-created health information, drafts, notes, personalization information, reminder preferences, scheduled KitTrail reminders, and temporary reports controlled by KitTrail, while preserving technical components required for the application to function.
Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone through KitTrail.
Reports or information that you previously exported or shared outside KitTrail are not controlled by KitTrail and will not automatically be deleted when you delete local KitTrail data.
9. Data Retention
Information you enter into KitTrail remains locally stored until you edit or delete it, use KitTrail's data-deletion controls, or the application's local storage is otherwise removed.
Temporary reports and related files are managed through KitTrail's report-cleanup functionality where technically possible.
Building Buddies does not maintain a server-side copy of your KitTrail health-tracking database in the current version of the app.
10. Device Security and Backups
KitTrail relies in part on security protections provided by your device and operating system.
You are responsible for maintaining appropriate security for your device, such as a device passcode, biometric authentication, and other security features available through your operating system.
KitTrail currently does not provide its own cloud backup/restore service. A PDF report is an exported summary and is not a restorable backup of your KitTrail database.
11. Children's Privacy
KitTrail is not designed or directed specifically toward children under 13.
Building Buddies does not knowingly operate KitTrail for the purpose of collecting personal information from children under 13 through a Building Buddies account or server.
If KitTrail's audience, account functionality, or data practices change, we will review and update our children's privacy practices as appropriate.
12. Medical Disclaimer
KitTrail provides organizational and informational tools based on information entered by the user.
KitTrail does not provide medical diagnoses or individualized medical treatment recommendations and is not a substitute for advice, diagnosis, or treatment from a qualified healthcare professional.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as KitTrail evolves.
If changes materially affect how personal or health-related information is collected, used, stored, or shared, we will update this policy and provide any notices or consent required by applicable law or platform requirements.
The effective date at the top of this policy indicates when it was most recently updated.
